Top 10 Sequels
Suggested by: Roberto Ardizzone

The sequel, by very definition, is a typically weaker cash-in and wholly unnecessary spin-off of the original. Every single one of these movies is either better or on-par with the original. Naturally, there are very few dramas and romantic comedies on this list but this is largely due to the fact that certain genres are simply not fit for the sequel market. So of the terrible follow-ups out there (and there are so very many), these ten are probably the only worthwhile ones. You may ask why Aliens or Terminator II are not present. To answer this, although they are fantastic films, they do not exceed their origins, simply work better with the origin-stories, characters and money that rolled off its predecessor. To that extent, my inclusion of The Godfather: Part II was a difficult one. Yes, it's a work of excellence but it is not better than The Godfather; having said that, this is an adaptation and parts of this story should have been present in the first film. But I digress, on to the list.
